Flower Urchin![]() The very short spines and long petal shaped pedicellariae (like tubes) give this urchin a flower look. They prefer shallow reefs, and mud bottoms and range to a depth of 80' (24 m). They range from the Baja to Ecuador. These urchins decorate themselves with debris and shells and will often almost completely cover themselves. | |

| Cautions: | Some accounts state the pedicellariae are actually small pincers that can inflict a poison. They are very small so may not be able to grip the palm of a hand but could cause painful stings in other areas of the body. It is best to look and observe but not handle. |
