Underwater Treasure Hunter Distinctive SpecialtyThis is a PADI Distinctive Specialty Certification developed and taught by Capt. Terry Sovil. Terry learned his techniques from years of successful Search & Recovery dives and from Scott Mitchen in Bayfield, Wisconsin, USA who did a significant amount of Treasure Hunting. Scott went on to found Timeless Timber in Ashland, WI. Timeless Timber finds old growth wood that has waterlogged and sunken to the bottom of the pristine and cold depths of Lake Superior. He salvages the logs, dries them and then makes the lumber available to a variety of markets including those that make instruments. Jonny Lang plays a guitar made of Timeless Timber and many violins have been made from the fine wood. The lure of hidden, lost treasure has an appeal to everyone. This course will help you learn to use an underwater metal detector in your search for hidden treasures under the water. This course will cover the basics in use of an underwater metal detector (Fisher M-Scope Model 1280-X) and finding metal items. "Treasure" is defined as: "accumulated, stored, or cached wealth in the form of valuables, such as money or jewels".
